Track meets will be held either at Chatsworth High School or at a High
School or College track facility in the area.
See the Meet Schedule for details. All meets
will start promptly at 8:30 AM
unless other wise noted in advance
and will continue until all events are
completed. The duration of each meet will vary slightly depending on
the number of athletes competing. It is
safe to assume that an average meet will end by 2:30 PM under most
conditions. Larger meets, such as the
League and Open Finals and the Invitational, attract more athletes and
will take longer. Depending upon which
events an athlete is competing in, he or she will not be required to
stay through the entire meet. If their
events have completed, they are free to go, or stay and cheer on the
rest of the team. Track meets have a
festival-like atmosphere that is unlike any other sporting event.
Umbrellas and tents can be set up in the stands
or sometimes in the infield (depending on the location)
and provide a great setting for a family picnic.

Awards
|
Ribbons are awarded to
each athlete for every event in which they compete during a regular
track meet. Top
athletes at Invitational or Finals meets will also receive special
recognition medallions.
Each athlete who competes
in EVERY AVAILABLE EVENT in his or her division will receive the
“Iron Person Award”, a
personalized medallion honoring their achievement.
Each athlete will also
receive a personalized trophy at the end of the season. |
Special Meets
At the end of the
season, athletes will have the opportunity to compete in special
meets that bring together all teams in our league at one time.
Open Finals
This meet is open
to all athletes, including Gremlins,
except those athletes that qualify for the League Finals.
League Finals
In order
for an athlete to compete in this meet, he or she must have
met certain “Qualifying Standards”. These
standards are set by
the Valley Youth Conference and apply to all teams in the conference.
Athletes who qualify for this meet are not allowed to compete in the
“Open Finals”. Gremlins are not eligible to
compete in this meet.
Individual
Event Championships (IEC's)
This
final meet of the season pits the individual winners from
the League Finals in the Eastern Division
against winners from
the League Finals in the Western Division of the Valley Youth Conference.
This event brings together the finest young athletes in our Conference.
